First you must register at The Georgia Superior Court Clerks’ Cooperative Authority.

 What are the requirements to become a notary in Georgia?

  • Must be 18 yrs. or older
  • Be a legal resident of Georgia or be working or employed in the state
  • Must apply in the county of residence or employment
  • Must not have previous commission or professional license that was revoked, suspended or restricted in any state
  • No commission of any prohibited act listed in the O.C.G.A
  • No unauthorized practice of law
  • Must be able to read and write in the English language

Do I need a notary bond or E&O Insurance?

Georgia notaries are not required to purchase a notary bond or insurance, however, E&O insurance is recommended. Errors and Omissions Insurance is not required by law but an E&O policy will cover legal fees and damages up to the amount of the policy.
